From Division to Vision: Co-creating European Futures
The seminar is designed as a laboratory for visions: a space where young people test ideas on how Europe can remain democratic, open, and value-driven under pressure. Different national experiences with belonging, identity, and cross-border connection serve as starting points for shared learning and creative action.
Europe is entering a new era of uncertainty: fences are reappearing where open crossings once symbolized unity, nationalist ideas are challenging the spirit of connection, and the values that brought us together are being tested. This raises urgent questions for all of us: What does it mean to be European when borders are closing again? How do we protect openness as a core value? And how can we build solidarity across dividing lines?
This seminar invites participants not just to discuss these questions, but to explore them playfully, creatively, and experimentally. In a diverse learning community of young people from Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland, we embark on a joint journey of discovery. Instead of sticking to abstract analysis, we engage in interactive methods: simulation games, role plays, creative workshops, and experimental formats that spark fresh perspectives on culture, migration and gender. The encounter with European challenges thus becomes an experience that connects thinking, feeling, and acting.
We will dive into scenarios that challenge us: What happens when the principle of openness collides with calls for closure? Which narratives can bridge divides when nationalist rhetoric dominates public discourse? By sharing personal experiences, challenging stereotypes, and listening to one another, participants gain not only new insights but also hands-on experiences of what European cooperation can look like in practice.
